Why are relationships so difficult? Quite frankly, relationships are often difficult because most people struggle with communication and intimacy. We also tend to bring quite a lot of unresolved baggage into our most intimate relationships! The key to navigating through difficult relationships and cultivating conscious relationships has to do with self-and-other-reflection. For when we intimately know, accept, and love ourselves – the good, the bad, and the ugly – we are better equipped to love another.
Ms. Catrelle utilizes many of the same depth psychological principles and tools with couples and families as she does with individuals. However, she will often spend more time educating couples and families about the dynamics of relationships, empathy, nonviolent communication, and boundaries, teaching them practical communication skills that can be used long after the psychotherapy relationship ends.
